Deuce's Verses
Verse: World of Warcraft
Born to a high elven mother and a night elven father, and passed between sets of parents for many of his early years, Deuce finally found some sense of stability when he was sent to Dalaran to finish his general education, and train in the arcane and blade. He grew up from then on in relative safety, at the side of his best friend, Kerran Trueshade. In time their paths took them in different directions, but with the destruction of Dalaran in the third war, many of the records of Deuce's existence and the family and friends he had gained were lost. Traumatized by these events, and a brush with death when his village in Arathor was destroyed by Legion remnants, Deuce determined to never let another innocent suffer or be left alone when they needed someone...at least, as long as he had some say in the matter. Donning a mask and cloak and leather armor, he slipped in amongst the blood elves who had reclaimed Silvermoon and made his name as an arcane shard runner. Taking the name of Deuce, or "The Nightingale," he eventually made a deal with the Regency and began to create a network of like-minded people. With their safehouses, resources and caches, they worked to support those most in need.
Verse: Baldur's Gate 3 and Dungeons and Dragons
The child of an escapee Lolth-sworn drow and a moon elf, Deuce's early life was marked by instability and multiple sets of parents. Now, he is a folk hero in the city of Baldur’s Gate and the surrounding areas, with a small cluster of fans. He has made his name helping the locals with matters big and small and setting up a network of safe houses, caches, and resources for people in need. Sometimes his work stretches into rooting out political corruption as well, and he has made both allies and enemies in this way. Between evading the small faction of Lolth-sworn drow dogging his footsteps and his (occasionally reckless) work, he's likely sooner or later to get himself into trouble...
Sub-Verse: Bregan D'aerthe
Getting himself deep into trouble in the midst of his mercenary work, Deuce is forced to find a quick exit from Baldur's Gate for his own safety. Coming into contact with Jarlaxle Baenre and the Bregan D'aerthe, Deuce negotiates passage in exchange for work as a temporary member of the crew. Though he (rightfully) does not trust Jarlaxle, whose reputation precedes him, the two get along well enough as Jarlaxle has no motivation to betray Deuce. But before arriving at port, Jarlaxle's spies discover information that suggests Deuce may be Jarlaxle's child. From then on, Jarlaxle is forced to grapple with the challenge of being a father, and Deuce, with this revelation and his own feelings about his newfound family...
Verse: Auldenon
In the world of Auldenon, the elven masked mercenary Deuce, or the Nightingale, grew up partially as an orphan in the Everian capitol city of Gaveroe. Earlier in life his parents had been killed in a pirate raid in the outer provinces of Everzyn. Exposed to the corruption of the local oligarchs and criminal circles from an early age, he learned the tools of the trade to get by. Even after he was taken in and raised by a kind individual named Zeliel Runesworn, and insulated from the roughness of the streets, Deuce maintained a reserve of kindness for the the downtrodden (and most certainly, a strong dislike of most pirates). Eventually he grew up and took up a role as the Nightingale, making a name for himself and his budding network as a small-time folk hero.As his work took him beyond the city of Gaveroe, and word spread of his deeds, he attracted the attention of an ancient fae being, a creature that referred to himself only as "Emanon." Growing fascinated with the Nightingale, Emanon arranged to have Deuce poisoned so that he might retrieve his prize and present himself as benevolent. Deuce, however, did not fancy the idea of being kept as a plaything or as a frozen statue, and fled from Emanon's lair. Infuriated, Emanon placed a curse on Deuce, a slowly encroaching condition that made Deuce's magic exceptionally unstable and would eventually consume the Nightingale from the inside out...IF Deuce did not return to his side. Now, Deuce seeks a cure for the strange affliction, avoiding the attention of the local hunters who seek to extirpate fae influence...

Original Verse: Auraine Shadowcrest (World of Warcraft)
Born to a night elven father and a high elven mother, Auraine's history has been tumultous from the start. While very much wanted and loved, she was passed between sets of parents and ultimately ended up as a feral child growing up in the wilds of Quel'thalas, alone and rejected by many.
Eventually that child grew into an adult, who in a stroke of luck tried to steal from a disguised red dragon named Kyraelistrasz. Taking an interest in Auraine, Kyrael gained her trust and slowly began to rehabilitate her. Eager to learn and be part of the world beyond her tiny sphere in Eversong, Auraine learned quickly. In time, Auraine learned to present herself appropriately in elven society...mostly. Now, she is a wandering mage, making her way through life with what little she can scrounge and what odd jobs she can do. Guided by her curiosity, a strong moral compass, and a free, willful heart, she seeks a brighter, more enlightened future for herself.
Sub-Verse: Auraine Shadowcrest (Dota 2)
In an alternate version of the Original verse, Auraine is yanked off of her home plane and summoned into another by a fluke, a once in millennia occurrence where the world of Dota2 and World of Warcraft's Azeroth align. Accidentally summoned onto Terrene by an unimaginably powerful mage, The Invoker, Auraine finds herself thrown into the unknown with no place to go and even fewer resources than she started with. And yet somehow The Invoker—despite his lack of regard for those he sees as beneath him—seems to feel responsible for Auraine, and thus houses and feeds her until he can find a way to get her home. At first, Auraine finds Invoker’s ego, lack of care for others, and his seemingly dour and jaded demeanor to be frustrating and worthy of her hotheaded anger. Invoker finds Auraine too sensitive, childish, and overly attached to the mortals underfoot that are scarcely worth his notice. But Invoker realizes a surprising new source of entertainment when he discovers Auraine’s inquisitiveness. Whether it’s her unbridled excitement upon coming across a book on a new subject, or her cautious investigation of some strange sugary confection, Invoker finds himself living vicariously through her wonder…and perhaps somewhat jealous. In return, Auraine begins to grow attached to Carl...
Ahlayn Verses
Verse: World of Warcraft
Born into the powerful but dwindling high elven noble family of the Nightfall, Ahlayn Bloodwing was molded from an early age to be his family's scion. Unfortunately, the stormy relationship between Bloodwing's mother and father made his childhood years difficult. He endured the abuse of his mother and the distance of his father—who eventually left the family forever—by staying close to his treasured younger brother, Eldris. In time, Ahlayn grew to adulthood and made a more public debut as the heir, but this was cut short by the Scourge invasion. The ensuing destruction and chaos claimed the lives of many remaining Nightfall relatives, leaving only Ahlayn and Eldris alive. Left with little choice, as soon as the reborn blood elves had reclaimed Quel'thalas, Ahlayn ascended to the role of family patriarch and set about re-establishing the now House Bloodwing's position in Silvermoon.
Verse: Baldur's Gate 3 and Dungeons and Dragons
Ahlayn Bloodwing was born to a well-liked and powerful family of nobles in Baldur's Gate. But long before he could assume his role as the scion, his family (except his brother, Eldris) was murdered by Bhaalists during the Bhaalspawn crisis. Another, lesser noble family saw the opportunity to seize influence for themselves and adopted Ahlayn and Eldris, using them for their own political gain. Trapped in a gilded cage, with little freedom or say in his role, Ahlayn and Eldris grew up as little more than pawns. But in time, not long after they reached adulthood, the attention of their "benefactors" turned elsewhere. Eldris took this opportunity to take his revenge on the bhaalist cult, but has not been seen since. Ahlayn, for his part, has been slowly calculating a way to reclaim his freedom and fortune from the noble family that raised him. Sharpening his craft as an alchemist and toxicologist, he has begun to tap into the Gate's underworld on the sly....
Simmy Verses
Verse: World of Warcraft
With no name, no memories beyond their initial waking, and no motivations to call their own, "Simmy" was found wandering aimlessly in Quel'thalas and brought into custody and questioned. Little more than a blank slate, for now the construct has been come to be known as "Simmy," shorthand for "Simulacrum." All the world is an object of curiosity to the newborn San'layn, and they have much to learn about life. Unlife? Perhaps one day they will discover what it means to them.Simmy does seem to remember one thing though, quite vividly: awakening alone, in a strange, dark place, full of macabre instruments, and blood samples. Confused and overwhelmed by the influx of new senses and feelings, they simply walked out of the underground labyrinth in which they found themselves, and out into the bright forests of Eversong.Time will tell what becomes of Simmy, but for now, there has been a concurrent uptick in cult activity, from a blood cult that has settled within the borders of Quel'thalas. Perhaps, they are looking for something?
